As the name suggests, the GE Profile series targets the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge features into their kitchen. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect higher quality.

This refrigerator is a good option, despite the slight blip. It has a large freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Furthermore, it can hold a decent amount of frozen food in comparison to similar models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill, an option available in a handful of other GE fridges that allow you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at once. The fridge shows a countdown to reveal how much water remains, but it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S is a great counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage in the frame's compact size. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door and two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of sleeker drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. You'll also find a full width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the best aspects of this refrigerator is that the Ice maker is located in the freezer, making it easy to transfer ice into the fridge for use when needed. The freezer has thoughtful design elements, for instance, sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of your items. It also has a large bin that holds plenty of frozen food and a separate storage bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a good way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. The refrigerator took longer to defrost food and chill it than the other fridges we tested. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The doors are another problem with this fridge. The sunken handles allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those who want to combine the aesthetics of a French-door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a great layout. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice if you want a French-door fridge that won't break the budget. It's a simple fridge that may not be as appealing as its rivals, but it still has enough features to make a good option. Its most significant feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food like vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. During my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator did not differ significantly from 38 degrees. That's a good performance, but it doesn't quite be among the top in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It does an excellent job of repelling fingerprints and streaks even when compared with glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
