The Lightest, Most Compact and Easiest to Fold Travel Strollers

It's more expensive than other models in this category however, it comes with additional features like a large cupholder, a parent pocket, a movable handlebar to fit parents of all heights, and a comfortable carry strap. The simplicity of the model does not mean it's as durable, as relative to other models in this class.

2. Folding is simple

If you're constantly on the move, a travel stroller needs to be simple to open and close. If you're carrying a bag of groceries or children in your arms, you don't want to struggle with a cumbersome stroller to close it. Even with just one hand, the best travel strollers can fold up easily and compactly. Many come with a padded carrying strap that fits comfortably over your shoulder.

The Babyzen Yoyo 2 is another alternative. It folds in a concertina-style fashion, but it also features a reversible seating arrangement to ride face-to-face or back-to-back. The handle is hidden behind the seat, but our editor didn't like the way it folded.

The tri-fold is the most recent stroller for travel. It folds in three parts and offers the best combination between compactness and features. The UPPAbaby Miniu, for example, has a reversible seat, an unstructured rear storage pouch, and a lockable clasp to keep it folded. It's a bit bigger than the umbrellas made by the brand but folds more compactly than their G-Luxe and G-Link counterparts. It also has a shoulder strap that is cushioned.

3. Easy to store

The best travel strollers can fold down to a small size that can be easily stored. They can easily be tucked away in the trunk of a car, or in the overhead bin of an airplane. If you're frequent travelers, we recommend that you consider a stroller that is more robust, with more features and the ability to hold more items. The UPPAbaby Miniu, for example, has many of the same features like its G-Luxe or G-Link cousins, but it's more compact and folds faster. It's also a bit more robust than an umbrella stroller and has a strap that is padded to lift some of the burden off your shoulders.

4. Comfortable

Strollers are often used for prolonged periods of time when traveling, which is why it is essential to be comfortable. Choose a seat with ample padding and a recline feature that lets you set it at multiple angles. Take note of whether the canopy extends for sun protection and if mesh windows encourage airflow. Look for a model with an organizer for parents and a cupholder as well as an ample basket under the seat in case you need to carry your belongings. If you're looking for a travel stroller for older children, make sure to check the age range and determine whether your child is at ease in the seat, even without a car seat for infants.

The way a stroller is rolled is also crucial. It should be able to move effortlessly over a variety of surfaces including smooth hardwoods and shag carpets to cobblestones, and gravel.
